An Easy Calm Morning Home Routine

If you’re like me, you’re a busy woman! How many hats do we wear? Let’s see, mom, wife, friend, sister, aunty, and work full-time to earn an income. Just typing that makes me sigh with all the things I have to do in 24 hours, to have a productive but calm day.

It took some time and several tweaks but I’ve finally figured out a routine that works for me so I’ll share my tips and hope it helps you in some way.

Take a few deep breaths and stretch. This helps to energize your body and mind and can also help to reduce any morning stiffness or tension.

Here's a sample routine that you could try:

  • Wake up at the same time every day. This helps to regulate your body's natural sleep-wake cycle and makes it easier to fall asleep at night.

I attempted to get on the 5 am wake-up train as other experts suggest, but it didn’t work out for me. My husband is a light sleeper; as soon as I would get out of bed, he’d wake up. We compromised and agreed that 6 am was best for us. I work from home so I still have plenty of time before I start my day to get plenty done before logging in to work at 8 am. DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU.

  • Take a few deep breaths and stretch. This helps to energize your body and mind and can also help to reduce any morning stiffness or tension.

  • Drink a glass of water. Hydrating first thing in the morning can help to replenish any fluids lost during the night and can also help to kickstart your metabolism.

  • Eat a healthy breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so take some time to sit down and enjoy a nourishing meal. Some ideas might include oatmeal with fruit and nuts, a smoothie made with yogurt and berries, or eggs with toast.

  • Take a few minutes to plan your day. This could involve making a to-do list, setting some goals, or just taking a few minutes to think about what you want to accomplish that day.

  • Get some exercise. Whether it's a quick yoga flow, a walk around the block, or a more intense workout, getting some physical activity in the morning can help to boost your energy levels and improve your mood.

  • Set aside some time for self-care. This could be as simple as taking a few minutes to meditate, journal, or read a book. Whatever helps you to feel grounded and centered, make time for it in your morning routine.

  • Listen to something positive while brushing your teeth. The 3 minutes it takes to brush your teeth is the perfect time to take in a few positive affirmations, prayer, and or make mental notes of what you are grateful for.

By following a consistent morning routine, you can help set the tone for the rest of your day and ensure that you start off on the right foot.

Do you follow the same routine everyday? I’d love to know if you have other tips, feel free to drop a comment below.

As always, Love and Light,

Kristi
